Swedish-born Maria Nilsson is the creative, ocean-inspired brains behind Atmosea. The Byron Bay-based brand is designed to offer females ‘mermaid-punk’ fashion that you can surf in. Inspired by an influx of women surfers, Maria set out to create a female-specific collection of swim and surf wear that would stand out from the rest. Whilst it can be difficult to craft ‘actively worn’ garments for women, Atmosea’s collection nails the balance between functionality and design.
