Discover sustainable creations at Currumbin Valley’s @ The Curated Space
There’s no doubt that the last couple of years have caused some serious upheaval in our daily lives, but many people have used this as an inspiration to change paths and follow their hearts – because who knows what could be around the corner? This was the case for Sally Wood, who alongside co-owner Jo Hetherington, decided to forge a new path away from the corporate ladder and towards something she was passionate about. Joining forces with talented crafter Jo, the duo created @ The Curated Space – a shop allowing inspiration to flourish with a focus on fun, sustainability and community connection.
@ The Curated Space is tucked within the oasis that is Currumbin Valley’s Ecovillage, which not only serves as the shop’s home but is also where Jo and Sally have been long-time residents. Taking in the abundant creativity of the area, the founders felt that a space to showcase the wares of local makers while also providing a platform to shop sustainably was needed – and so @ The Curated Space was born. Stock is taken on consignment meaning funds flow directly to local artisans and to be accepted it must meet the criteria of being local, sustainable, handmade, upcycled or recycled.
Since the store’s opening in April, a growing line-up of wares has been curated including jewellery, candles, artwork and baby gifts by Jo Jackson Designs, upcycled furniture and household items from Paint Me Love Me, Bee Kind Always beeswax wraps and pottery from multiple local potters. As the range is so diverse, @ The Curated Space is the ultimate gift-shopping destination and also offers complimentary sustainable gift wrapping. If you’re in search of a way to spend your weekend morning, brunch at the nearby Pasture + Co before spending some time perusing the delights @ The Curated Space is a pretty perfect plan.
