Regions to go head-to-head at Yamagen’s interactive wine dinner

Adelaide Hills will take on the Marlborough region, Mclaren Vale will go up against Napa Valley before Barossa Valley and McLaren Vale battle it out coming to a spectacular conclusion with the Coonawarra vs. Margaret River clash at Yamagen’s first interactive wine dinner on Thursday June 25.

Join Hubert Auffret, Sommelier of the Wine Appellation Club, and fellow vino enthusiasts for an evening of superb Japanese fair and fabulous wines. The menu, created by Chef Trent Sydenham, includes four delectable courses that complement the flavour profile of each of the wines on offer. Start with sashimi of Harvey Bay scallop with yuzu pearls and tosa dressing followed by house-smoked duck sushi roll finished in light tempura batter and fresh grated daikon and sous vide beef eye fillet with potato gnocchi in pink peppercorn jus. Finish your Japanese feast with renkon hasami yaki with slow braised lamb shank, sauteed mustard spinach and sweet potato.

The evening, presented by Vintage House Wine and Spirits, offers a carefully curated selection of fine Australian and international wines and promises an interactive evening that won’t be forgotten in a hurry, unless of course you get a little carried away ‘sampling’ the selection of wines on offer. If you do find yourself in that position, it may be wise to plan ahead and book a room at QT Gold Coast and really make a night of it. Jump over to the website to secure your seat. If you’d prefer to sample your own selection of Japanese fare, take a seat around the Teppanyaki barbecue grill and be entertained as the knife-wielding culinary masters whip up a frenzy of food from the a la carte menu including rib eye fillets, Moreton bay bugs, fresh King prawns, chicken, Atlantic salmon, kangaroo and tofu. See our Stumble Guide for opening times.

The Stumble Guide is our comprehensive Gold Coast dining guide with more than 870 places to eat, drink, shop and play.
