Westfield Coomera brings a tidal wave of dining and retail to the northern Gold Coast

After years of anticipation, one of the most significant new additions to the city’s northern end has finally arrived. Thursday October 11 marks the official opening of Westfield Coomera, a colossal $470-million destination with more than 140 dining, retail and entertainment venues. Here’s everything you need to know.

Spanning more than 59,000 sqm, Westfield Coomera will feature an expansive dining precinct with a score of casual and market-style food offerings alongside specialty retail stores, a Goodlife Health Club, Event Cinemas and major supermarkets. Popular Broadbeach institution The Bavarian will open the doors to its massive 320-seat dining space and bar, marking the occasion by giving away free hotdogs for the first 500 customers from 11:00 am this Thursday October 11. The Bavarian’s new Coomera instalment will feature beer-hall-style communal timber tables, a custom-designed vintage beer barrel wall and an eye-catching chandelier made from 500 one-litre glass steins, suspended over a beer-filled bar. Queensland burger icon Betty’s Burgers will open its fourth Gold Coast store, serving up its mouth-watering classic burgers, shakes and signature ‘concrete’ frozen custards. There’s also craft-beer hub Tapworks Bar & Grill, which will have 30 taps rotating on the regular alongside a classic pub-style menu and a selection of steaks. Casual two-level dining spot Beach House Bar & Grill will be serving up everything from seafood and steaks to burgers and salads, plus beers, wine and cocktails for a post-shopping tipple.

Piato Wood Fire Deli will bring the tastes of the Mediterranean with a menu that covers snacks and small plates, through to chargrilled meats, woodfired pizzas, as well as house-baked breads, pastries and European-style baked delights. The contemporary flavours of Asia are added to Westfield Coomera’s offering in the form of Nahm Thai Restaurant, Kamikaze Teppanyaki & Bar and Emperor’s Yum Cha, while Little Red Dumpling will serve up delicious handmade dumplings from its first Gold Coast venue. The dining precinct makes its way to Mexico with Coorparoo-based taqueria Barbacoa dishing up its tasty street-food menu, alongside Lone Star Rib House, and sweet havens Miss Claude’s Crepes and Gelatissimo.

The Backyard at Westfield Coomera is a first-of-its-kind concept – a 2600-sqm precinct filled with tall trees, native flora, art installations, kids play zones, all-ages scooter circuits, an interactive billabong, suspended hammocks, picnic tables and built-in barbecues for communal use. iPlay Adventure will be an entertainment haven for all ages, featuring rock climbing, a high-ropes course and indoor roller skating. The creators of iPlay will also operate The Park Coomera, a putt-putt-meets-beer-garden venue with a bar, pizzeria, full-lane bowling and live music.

Westfield Coomera officially opens to the public on Thursday October 11. The opening kicks off with four days of celebrations throughout the centre, including live music, activations, giveaways and fireworks. Check out our Event Guide for more information on the opening event.
