Stroll down Vegan Aisle – the coast’s first dedicated vegan supermarket

For every vegan who has ever spent way too much time wandering aimlessly through supermarkets checking labels and trying to find that elusive ‘vegan’ stamp, then breathe a sigh of relief. The Gold and Tweed Coast’s first dedicated vegan supermarket has opened. It’s called Vegan Aisle, and it has everything you’ll ever need (and more) under one roof.

Vegan Aisle is located on the quaint strip of Stuart Street in Tweed Heads. For those trying to find their bearings – it’s just off Griffith Street in Coolangatta. The coast’s first vegan-only supermarket is the brainchild of local lads Brett Page and James Denney. Not too long ago, the duo were having lunch at vegan cafe Sozo Square, also on Stuart Street, and noticed the vacant store across the road. Armed with business backgrounds and a passion for the vegan lifestyle, Brett and James jumped on the space in a bid to fill a gap for an accessible supermarket dedicated purely to vegan products. Oh, and we’re not just talking about your run-of-the-mill vegan products – these guys have gone to the ends of the earth to make hard-to-get products and brands easily accessible for locals.

The doors to Vegan Aisle are open, though the shelves are still being padded out with goodness, so you can expect the range of products to grow substantially over the coming weeks. You’ll find all of your supermarket essentials like muesli, chips, dips, chocolate (yes, essential), tinned vegetables, nut butters, pastas, crackers, cleaning products, beauty products and vegan honey. Yes, vegan honey exists – so does coconut bacon. There’s a fridge full of cold goodies from nut milks, kombucha and jars of kimchi, through to yoghurt, ice-cream and all of the cheeses. If you’re after a vegan snack on the go, there’s a cabinet brimming with pastries from Flour of Life Bakery, as well as sweet raw treats. Everything you need to live your best plant-based lifestyle is here – so get down there and take a stroll through Vegan Aisle.
