Settle in for coffee and bites by the seaside at new Coolangatta brunch spot Vanilla Lily

Being able to sip coffee and enjoy breakfast while overlooking the ocean has got to be one of the best parts about living on the Gold Coast. One of the latest arrivals to offer such a dreamy situation is Vanilla Lily, a new daytime hang (and soon-to-be casual night spot) that you’ll find just a few sandy footsteps away from the pristine Coolangatta beach.

The Marine Parade spot that most recently housed poke-bowl bar Raw + Rice, neighbouring Bondi Grill’e and Gelatissimo, has been given a fresh new identity as Vanilla Lily, which is the latest project from the owners of the nearby Cafe Kirra (formerly known as GG’s). The sleek new seaside arrival is slinging Byron Bay Coffee Company brews on the daily, alongside an all-day breakfast menu of refined classics, joined by a handful of hearty lunch options come midday.

Treat yourself to decadent French toast with a sprinkling of sweet dukkah and lashings of mascarpone, or keep things simple with avocado on rye sourdough, jazzed up with pomegranate, chilli and raw honey. Go-to eats like eggs Benny with housemade hollandaise are permanent fixtures, while rotating dishes like the nourishing seasonal greens with roast pumpkin, avocado and turmeric hummus can spice up your morning routine. Those with a gap to fill at lunch can tuck into an Angus beef brioche burger with maple bacon, Swiss cheese and pickles, the colourful roasted-chickpea and cauliflower tacos with mango salsa, or opt for easy eats like Reuben sandwiches and smoked-salmon bagels. Picture-perfect acai bowls and smoothies also roll out across the day to cool you down during those sun-kissed beach sessions. The Vanilla Lily team will soon be securing a liquor licence, which will commence their plans for evening trade where locals can sip ice-cold beers and wines while grazing on fresh oysters and grazing boards loaded with local produce – keep an eye out!
