Celebrate the silly season with an indulgent Cantonese feast at Uncle Su

For most people, the festive season is about spending time with your loved ones and enjoying a decadent festive feast while you’re at it. When the days roll around, however, and temperatures are peaking – there’s pretty much anywhere we would rather be than slaving over the stove. Luckily for us, the good people at the coast’s hottest new Cantonese restaurant are serving up the ultimate spreads for Christmas Day and New Year’s Eve.

For those that missed the opening of The Star Gold Coast’s brand-new Cantonese dining den, Uncle Su, let us get you up to speed. The jewel-hued dining room serves up an array of drool-worthy traditional favourites with a contemporary twist – focusing on Queensland’s abundant local seafood, Uncle Su’s share-style feasts tend to leave you decidedly full but extremely content. Named after executive chef Song Yao Su, Uncle Su draws inspiration from the term “Uncle” in Chinese tradition that indicates respect – a fitting moniker for a restaurant led by a chef with more than 35 years of experience.

This Christmas, Uncle Su will be putting on a festive spread designed for sharing with family and friends. A unique menu has been designed by chef Song Yao Su especially for the day, which will feature his signature spin on Asian classics and plenty of oceanic delights. The decadent banquet lunch will commence with a shrimp seasonal fruit salad, special dim sum platter and seafood tom yum goon soup, before you move onto mains such as filet mignon with king mushrooms in black pepper sauce, baked toothfish and sauteed king prawns – to name just a few. Finish your feast with the perfect sweet treats – a summery coconut and mango mousse and an egg-custard tart. Spots at this lavish spread will be snapped up quickly and cost $148 for adults, $50 for children (from five to 14) and are free for children four and under. Head here to book your place at the ultimate Christmas Day dining experience – hurry, there are only a handful of spots left!

If your Christmas plans are sorted but you’re searching for a special event for New Year’s Eve, you’re also in luck. Spend the final evening of 2021 surrounded by family and friends with a decadent feast at Uncle Su, which will be hosting two extravagant festive dinners on the evening. Featuring Cantonese favourites peppered with Beijing and Szechuan signatures, the first seating offers an a la carte menu while the second will serve up a decadent four-course spread with champagne on arrival. The first seating will run from 5:30–7:30 pm with the second seating commencing from 8:00 pm. Head here to nab your spot at these special soirees.
