If you were a regular at Bootleg juice bar on Surf Parade, then we have good and bad news for you. The bad news is that Bootleg has gone – but don’t fret, there’s a silver lining. In the wake of the major works on the Surf Parade precinct, Bootleg owner Anthony Jenner decided to completely reinvent the well-positioned venue, which he operated as a juice bar for nearly four years, to create Toots – the Gold Coast’s newest American-style tapas bar. So, say goodbye to raw balls and super salads, and say hello to prawn po’boys, Tennessee ribs and deep-dish pull-apart pizzas. It’s a delicious shift and we’re totally on board.

So, the all-new Toots seats around 70 snackers and sippers – you can nab a stool at the bar, in the timber-clad booths or people-watch on the street front seats. Toots is a cosy, industrial-style space with toe-tapping tunes and all the ingredients for a fun and relaxed neighbourhood watering hole. Get an icy craft beer or a signature Toots cocktail in your hand first (the foamy Scronch Sour with lemon, honeycomb, chocolate and Monkey Shoulder whiskey will do just fine) before making your way through the delicious tapas spread. You’ll find everything from jalapenos poppers filled with cream cheese to black-bean chilli with sweet Southern corn bread, fried crumbed ravioli with marinara dipping sauce and loaded waffle fries with pickles, bacon and chilli. If you’re into chips and dip (who isn’t?) then the authentic and super cheesy artichoke dip is a must-try snack.
