Pavement Whispers: Opa! Greek eatery The Yiros Shop announces its first Gold Coast location

After leaving a firm footprint across Brisbane, street-eats slingers The Yiros Shop has (finally) set its sights further south, announcing its first-ever Gold Coast location. The popular chain of casual Greek-inspired eateries is set to be dishing up its signature fluffy yiros filled with tender lamb shoulder and famed deep-fried haloumi chips just metres from the beach at its soon-to-open Burleigh Heads pitstop. Here’s what we know.

The Yiros Shop’s flagship Gold Coast site will be the latest addition to Burleigh’s bustling James Street, occupying the former The Coffee Club space on the corner of James and Connor Streets. The coast’s new Greek eatery is set to open its doors in November, serving its full menu of yiros (with fillings like lamb shoulder, marinated chicken, waygu beef, deep-fried whiting and veggie patties), alongside Greek plates (succulent meats sided with salad, chips and fluffy pita), seasoned fries loaded with meats and sauces, and sides like housemade taramasalata and moreish haloumi chips with lemon.

The new Burleigh Heads site will feature a bunch of tasty new additions for the brand, including Greek-style breakfasts (the morning menu will be announced closer to the opening) and all-day coffee, while a new plant-based range is set to join the menu this summer. Befitting its sun-kissed location, The Yiros Shop will also be pouring local tap beers from its lunch service and into the evening. James Street’s newest Greek pit stop is pegged to open in November – sit tight, we’ll have more details for you soon!
