From a tiny space adjoining a hair salon, The Yard Cafe’s instant popularity among locals spurred a huge expansion to now include the whole building and sprawling alfresco area out the back. The cafe has recently launched a new, extended menu and trading hours.

If you’re someone who doesn’t like your breakfast confined to the hours of 7:00–10:30 am, then pull up a seat in the fresh air out the back at The Yard Cafe, grab a paper and enjoy an Allpress coffee as you tackle the difficult task of deciding between the soft poached eggs atop locally-sourced sourdough, streaky bacon and avocado smash or something more substantial from the new lunch menu. While eggs all-day is mighty tempting, you owe it to yourself to at least take a peek at the next page that is filled with afternoon delights including grilled Portuguese chicken, lime avocado salsa with peri peri sauce as well as wagyu beef burger, sweet onions, swiss, bacon and relish with fried chats.

The Yard Cafe offers a fresh approach to old lifestyle cuisine. The rustic, homestyle menu is prepared using produce that is either grown or sourced locally. Even the eggs are from owner Simon Moulden and Tracey Hughes’ chickens that roam freely around their eight-acre property in Currumbin. The benefit is a pure, simple journey from paddock and patch to your plate and bowl. The emphasis here is on fresh local and seasonal produce to create a sensory delight in The Yard Cafe’s unique setting. The eatery has extended the kitchen’s opening hours to 3:00 pm so you can take full advantage of their new, complete menu. See our Stumble Guide for opening times.
