The Tropic at Burleigh Pavilion launches a Meet the Maker dinner series
Burleigh Pavilion’s sophisticated beachside restaurant The Tropic will next week launch a delicious new dinner series, designed to shine the light on winemakers, distillers, brewers and producers. The intimate Meet the Maker sessions will be held monthly, with the first event kicking off next Thursday July 11.
If you’re yet to try Burleigh Pavilion’s The Tropic restaurant, this is the ideal excuse to experience the creativity and culinary wizardry of head chef Guillaume Zika – paired perfectly with the best views on the Gold Coast. The first event in the Meet the Maker series on July 11 will showcase Philip Shaw Wines from Orange, with winemaker Dan Shaw on hand to step sippers through how wine redefines people’s presumptions of flavour and quality. Chef Guillaume will match the wines with a Mediterranean-inspired four-course menu, which will feature dishes like king-fish tartare, melted raclette cheese with salted berries and roasted hazelnuts, and braised ox cheek with confit cabbage, celeriac cream and dill.
If you miss the first one, don’t stress – dates for the next five Meet the Maker events have been confirmed. While the details for each one are being kept under wraps until a little closer to the dates, we can give you a sneak peek at the themes. On July 24, it’ll be Italian wines and meats from the local butcher, on August 15 it’ll be all about local and imported cheeses, and on September 4 the theme is rosé and crustaceans. Champagne and seafood will be on the cards on October 16, while plant-based eaters will want to put November 21 in their diaries, because that event will be all things vegan!
Sure, we all love experiencing great food, but if you’re the type that likes to delve a little deeper and learn more about what they are snacking on and sipping – then this is for you.
