We’re going to level with you – pastry is our vice. There’s just something about the buttery taste and flaky texture that really does things to us. When we heard that Bundall’s The Pastry Emporium was opening a second venue a little further south, our hearts skipped a beat. Well, after a short period of anticipation, the time has finally come – The Pastry Emporium officially open its doors in Mermaid Waters today (Thursday October 12). Friends, this is what dreams are made of.

The Pastry Emporium’s new Mermaid Beach digs marks another notch in the belt of owner and super-talented pastry chef Adrian Grazioli, who opened the patisserie’s first venue in Bundall back in 2014. Speaking of notches in belts – you’ll want to free up a couple before stepping into this sweet new space, because it’s jam-packed full of everything from custard-filled doughnuts, colourful macarons and cookies, to hand-rolled croissants, fruit danishes and endless rows of petite cakes. You’ll also find The Pastry Emporium’s range of decorated whole cakes in the cabinet, which you can nab on the daily or pre-order for a special occasion (or purely for the love of cake).

The fun doesn’t stop with the sweet stuff – the savouries are just as delightful. There are fresh-baked baguettes, rye and sourdough loaves available to take home, plus a range of housemade pies, bacon and egg brioche rolls, cheesy croque monsieurs and savoury pastries that are sure to keep you (and your stomach) well and truly satisfied. Nothing goes better with pastries and sweets than coffee – so you’ll be happy to know that Merlo brews will be pumping out from 7:00 am every day. The (new) Pastry Emporium is in good company at its Mermaid Beach digs, taking the space right beside Lucky Bao in the Markeri Market complex, which is also home to Nude Sisters Wholefood Kitchen, The Journal and Yuen’s supermarket.
