The Market Place brings specialty coffee, tasty eats and neighbourhood vibes to Robina

A new hangout for specialty-coffee drinkers has sent a caffeine-fuelled buzz through Robina’s tree-lined Arbour Avenue precinct. Just last week, the doors to The Market Place swung wide open, bringing top-notch brews, a mouth-watering menu and a distinct neighbourhood vibe to the heart of the suburb.

Sometimes, it’s the little things that make the biggest difference. Like char-grilling the lemon that sits on the side of the smashed avo, adding a hand-made rustic hash brown to a normally straight-forward bacon and egg roll, and taking that little bit of extra time to perfectly align the figs that sit atop a bowl of toasted muesli. If (like us) you notice the ‘little things’, then The Market Place could be your new best friend. Owners Sarah and Matt Shaeffer, who hail from Sydney, have also brought a little piece of the south up with them, in the form of Glee Coffee Roasters – The Market Place is the first cafe on the Gold Coast to serve the renowned central coast roaster’s boutique beans. For now, it’s coffee (and tasty food) on weekdays, with Saturdays due to launch in coming months.

Alongside the specialty coffee, you’ll find a menu for all tastes that puts a refined spin on breakfast and lunch fare. The before-mentioned ‘breakky burger’ is a must-try, or you can keep it light with the pumpkin-spiced granola or the haloumi and grilled figs on sourdough with walnut salsa. Fill the gap come lunchtime with the pulled pork burger with apple and cabbage slaw, or for a meat-free delight, munch on the crisp apple, almond and quinoa salad with a sparkling mint, lime and coconut spritz on the side. There are plenty of grab-and-go savouries and oh-so-sweet baked goods in the cabinet – perfect for an early morning pre-commute coffee and snack fix. Sarah and Matt are also using the space as a platform to help local creatives showcase and sell their wares, with a selection of pieces from succulents to candles and flowers by Posie Lane positioned around the space.
