The Little Plate’s selection of global cuisine made it an instant favourite among locals. So much so that the hole-in-the-wall venue expanded into a neighbouring space and opened The Little Bar. One year later, the ladies are at it again (albeit on a smaller scale) and have recently pushed into a little alfresco area out the back providing yet another option for diners.

Sometimes, the hardest thing about going out to dinner is trying to find an option to suit everyone. If you have found yourself in this spot of bother, you will appreciate The Little Plate in Burleigh Heads. The venue is saving diners from having to choose by offering a culinary trip abroad to satisfy all tastes and whims. Start your journey in Mexico with the soft blue-corn tortilla, pulled pork, jalapeno and guacamole cilantro before popping over to France and feasting on succulent Eye Fillet Mingnonettes. Make a detour via the Middle East and enjoy a Cypriot mezze share platter with mint, parsley and burghal salad and the Zataar spiced chicken fatoush salad with Persian feta. Complete your culinary adventure with the sticky date pudding with butterscotch sauce and vanilla ice cream.

The current menu is a compilation of the favourites and is based around a share-plate philosophy. Proving that variety is the spice of life, there is also a daily specials board that presents some new favourites to choose from. Regulars to The Little Plate and Bar frequently hand the decision-making responsibilities back over to owners and chefs, Liv and Gaynor, a responsibility the ladies take seriously. So much so, they have recently commenced Chef’s Table on a Wednesday night. Designed as an intimate communal dining experience for a dozen people, the chefs will prepare four plates for you to enjoy along with a glass of bubbles, white and a red. The selections are pre-set and bookings are essential. See our Stumble Guide for opening times.
