Let’s eat! The Kitchens is now open on the Gold Coast

Gold Coast, the wait is over – The Kitchens is open. The doors to Robina Town Centre’s $160-million foodie playground have swung open in spectacular style, with 30 new restaurants, cafes, bars and food retailers now open and ready to take you on a culinary adventure.

The new Robina Town Centre marketplace has attracted some of Australia’s biggest names in food, with the likes of George Calombaris’ Jimmy Grants, William Wu’s Fish Lab and Sydney restaurateur Tom Chidiac’s Lucky Luciano’s forming part of the unbelievable new space which is set to take the Gold Coast dining scene to dizzying new levels. Speaking of dizzying – that timber-clad wave roof is pretty damn impressive (when you go, look up!). The culinary heavyweights have joined a spread of local restaurateurs, chefs and providores and a bunch of fresh new faces who will now call The Kitchens home. The contemporary two-level marketplace, which is mind-blowing in both size and stature, will act as a canvas for each of the operators to spread their foodie wings – and we couldn’t be more excited. Local names include James Brady, owner of popular Surfers Paradise venues Pigs and Pints and Brady’s, who has opened Mr Pigs Bakehouse, and Akira Takagi who has opened his second Muso Ramen Noodle & Gyoza Bar at The Kitchens. Gold Coast lad Trent Scarr, who is behind Honeyeater Kitchen, will join Byron Bay’s Gemma Gawned of colourful raw-food bar Naked Treaties and local health-food brand BSKT’s own CocoWhip space. You’ll find all the details on the full foodie line-up here.

To mark the opening, The Kitchens is rolling out a series of events this weekend with appearances by celebrity chefs Alistair McLeod, MasterChef’s Matt Sinclair and Gerard’s Bistro head chef Ben Williamson, who will join The Kitchens new resident chef Samanatha Gowing. The four-day opening extravaganza will feature workshops, live music in the dedicated events and busking precinct, art installations and moonlight outdoor cinemas, which will give us locals a taste of what’s in store for the summer ahead. You’ll find more info on the weekend’s festivities here. Do yourself a favour and check it out – what has been created at The Kitchens is seriously next-level and you won’t quite grasp the concept of 30 (yes, 30!) restaurants, cafes and food retailers under one roof until you see it with your own eyes. Let’s just say that minds will be blown and jaws will drop. Keep your eyes peeled here as we lift the lid on The Kitchens and tell you more about what the amazing new vendors have in store over the next few weeks. The doors to the playground are now officially open, so round up the foodie friends and let’s eat!
