Say hello to Australia’s newest food and entertainment destination, The F.E.D at Distillery Road Market
Since its inception in 2015, Distillery Road Market (DRM) has been revitalising an enormous 17000-sqm site at Eagleby – half way between Brisbane and the Gold Coast – with the vision of creating a world-class food and entertainment destination. This week, the precinct will unveil one of its most significant chapters yet, The F.E.D. Here’s everything you need to know …
In 2020, Distillery Road Market welcomed Sugar Creek Smokehouse, followed closely by Posadas Taqueria in 2021. The following year saw the establishment of fortnightly bazaar markets, setting the scene for the opening of the eagerly anticipated opening of Perentie Brewing Co. in 2023. This Saturday June 29, Australia’s newest food and entertainment destination, The F.E.D, will officially spring to life. Spanning 5000-sqm, the colossal 2000-person venue is set to bolster the state’s live entertainment options with an expansive outdoor entertainment area and on-site eateries bordering a massive indoor hall lined with long tables.
“We have created a truly world-class venue that can accommodate around 2,000 visitors, making it ideal for concerts, markets, and community gatherings that will only enhance DRM’s reputation as an epicentre of social and cultural activities in the region,” says Distillery Road Market and Zarraffa’s Coffee founder, Kenton Campbell.
The F.E.D’s outdoor entertainment stage in particular is already gaining traction as a destination for touring music and entertainment acts, with the recent announcement of Grinspoon performing at Distillery Road Market in October this year. The space will also play home to a host of popular home-grown talent, with weekly performances by local bands and artists, including indie-pop duo JUNO.
“With so many venues closing around Queensland and limited opportunities for up-and-coming bands and artists to play local venues in Southeast Queensland, the opening of Distillery Road Market is an oasis in the desert for local and touring artists,” says Kahlia Ferguson from JUNO.
Ensuring visitors are well fed and hydrated, The F.E.D will offer a mouth-watering array of street-food-inspired eats including Wing It, Slice It, Posadas Mexican Kitchen and a Tequila Bar, joining previously opened venues Perentie Brewing Co., Kiwanda Café and Sugar Creek Smokehouse.
“The master plan for the precinct is to be an epicentre for good times and great entertainment and we are well on our way to realising this vision,” Kenton says.
The grand-opening event for The F.E.D is on Saturday June 29 from midday. The event will feature live entertainment, music acts, market stalls, and a wide array of food options to delight visitors throughout the day.
