As much as we love exciting new restaurants on the Gold Coast, and we do, a lot, there is something that can be said for the little local gems that have stood the test of time and continue to please loyal patrons and attract new devotees. That’s Amore is undoubtedly one of those places. Karlyn Hampton took over the suburban eatery a couple of years ago and has recently unveiled a stylish new look that includes an inviting timber-clad internal dining room, a private area that can be reserved for special occasions as well as a sizeable new menu that goes well beyond pizza and pasta.

Containing all of your regular Italian favourites including veal wild fungi and bolognese, the new bill of fare also offers some exciting additions including chilli mussels with a tomato reduction, fresh herbs and toasted bread and house-made gnocchi topped with honey-roasted pumpkin, pine nuts, rosemary, spinach and a dash of cream. Pizza lovers are also spoilt for choice with no less than 20 different topping combinations ranging from classic margarita through to the Con’s Special which includes pepperoni, mushrooms, prawns, olives, chilli and garlic.
