Southport welcomes Swannie’s Restaurant & Lounge Bar

Housed in the historic Swan House building from the 1970s, Swannie’s Restaurant & Lounge Bar is set to reinvigorate Southport’s late-night dining scene with a some top-notch nosh and a seriously impressive drinks list. The trendy new venue opens its doors on Saturday August 6.

Complete with an old wooden ladder over the bar and chesterfield couches, Swannie’s Restaurant & Lounge Bar is reminiscent of a high-end saloon bar. A casual cafe by day and sophisticated tapas and lounge bar by night, Swannie’s is destined to become the go-to destination for Southport-dwelling corporates as well as the general caffeine and cocktail loving populace. The daytime menu, created by head chef Acme Godog (formerly from Versace and Moo Moo The Wine Bar + Grill), is designed as a people pleaser with classic cafe and quality pub grub with a fancy twist including fluffy egg white omelettes for the health conscious, deliciously rich eggs benny with crispy bacon for those who are perhaps less so and Angus eye fillet steak sandwiches for ravenous carnivores. As the sun sets, diners can enjoy a selection of tapas from around the world including Italian-style meatballs, Indonesian-style pork belly, gooey mozzarella balls and yum cha favourites.

The drinks list is equally as worldly with some top-shelf whisky from America, Canada, Ireland, Japan and Australia all making an appearance alongside some classic cocktails. If you skipped dessert, make up for it with the Don Pedro cocktail; a delicious concoction of vanilla ice-cream, Kahlua and cream garnished with chocolate flakes. Swannie’s Restaurant & Lounge Bar provides the perfect setting for Friday afternoon drinks that accidentally (on purpose) roll into boozy evenings.
