Suki brings poke bowls and sushi burritos to Robina Town Centre

Summer is here … and so is Suki! That’s right, the Brisbane-born poke-bowl restaurant has spread its colourful wings south, with its first Gold Coast venue opening at Robina Town Centre today, Thursday November 30. What better way to welcome the warmer months than with fresh poke bowls and sushi burritos. Yes friends, sushi burritos now exist.

Suki has quickly rustled up a cult-like following in Brisbane with its flagship venue in South Bank opening in April, before widening its reach to Bulimba and more recently Gasworks Plaza. Us Gold Coast folk can now sink our teeth into the goodness seven days a week with Suki’s latest addition, which is perched along The Promenade at Robina Town Centre (near Groove Train and Grill’d). By now you should really know what a poke bowl is, but for those that haven’t been paying attention, these tasty bowls are a traditional Hawaiian dish that blends marinated raw fish, like salmon or tuna, with fresh salads, vegetables and sauces. It’s pretty much the perfect summer meal.

Suki adopts a build-your-own approach and keeps things pretty simple – you can have your creation as either a hand-held sushi burrito (in a seaweed or tortilla wrap) or as a poke bowl. Once you’ve tackled the ‘roll or bowl’ decision, you then choose your base (like rice or quinoa and kale), your cold or hot protein, more fillings like vegetables and fruit, then you finish it off with sauces and toppings. If you’re a little indecisive, then there’s a menu of Suki faves to choose from like the Destinee’s Child with salmon, tuna and ponzu sauce, and the Hot Chick with teriyaki chicken, edamame and red chilli.
