Don’t just drink it, create it – Stone & Wood’s new brewery experience lets you become a brewer for the day
Do you ever find yourself with a beer in hand, staring curiously at that light amber liquid, thinking what kind of process brought that beer to life? Somehow a pile of ingredients – waiting to be extracted, brewed and fermented – underwent a frothy transformation. Of course, we all know the brewers are the ones who really brought beer here, but if you’ve ever wondered about the how behind the process, Byron Bay’s iconic Stone & Wood Brewery, is giving you the chance to be a part of that magical beer-creation process.
Stone & Wood’s independent Northern Rivers brewery has just introduced its new immersive Brewing Experience. This is hops above a tasting tour – you will actually be a brewer for a day, learning all the tricks of the trade from malting to mashing and brewing. It’s a chance for lager lovers and ale enthusiasts to gain a deeper understanding of the beer they spend so much time raising to their lips (that beer has a backstory, you know), while actually brewing a Stone & Wood all-year or pilot beer batch.
Launching from Thursday September 5, the all-inclusive Stone & Wood Brew Experience will combine action and education, teaching participants about the industry while they get their hands dirty during the brewing process. Each day will be guided by two Stone & Wood crew members facilitating the craft-beer date with an in-depth brewery tour. It’s not just sniffing and sipping – you can get to know where your beer started out before it met you, take part in Cicerone-guided sensory training, sample tastings poured straight from the tank, plus take in additional information on Stone & Wood’s story and approach to conscious business.
Because the Stone & Wood crew want you to feel every bit beguiled by beer on this day, the Brew Experience also includes transfer from Byron Bay CBD, breakfast, lunch at the brewery’s canteen, beers throughout the day and a pub crawl through Byron town, plus an exclusive Stone & Wood merchandise pack. Now that’s what we would classify as a truly unforgettable day! The Stone & Wood Brew Experience is priced at $350 per person and will run every fortnight from Thursday September 5.
