Say farewell to summer at Split Upstairs’ epic end-of-season party and hello to the next chapter

When Split Upstairs first appeared above the Nobby’s strip – in all its ramshackle glory – we knew it was here for a good time not a long one. Friends, what a time it’s been. Sipping spritzes and hot-pink margs as the sun sank against a backdrop of dirty house beats, Split Upstairs will forever be etched in our collective (hazy) memories as the place for summer 2020/2021. As Bob Dylan once mused, the times, they are a-changin’ and it’s time for us to say goodbye summer and hello to its brand-new winter concept.

Whether you went one time or were part of the furniture, Split Upstairs invites you to one last hurrah on Sunday May 9 (sorry in advance to those who work on Monday) for an epic end-of-season party. The festivities kick-off from 2:00 pm until late and, in true Split style, revellers are invited to come dressed as the most outrageous version of themselves – the bigger the better! Before you go shedding too many tears, it’s not goodbye, it’s just time for Split Group’s new winter concept to be unveiled. The name is being kept under wraps for now but we’re told to expect a Fitzroy/Brooklyn-esque vibe with grungy street art and more intimate seating, befitting the cooler evenings.

Chef Jon Nurminen, a former chef from The Fish House and who also oversees Gods of the Sea, has cooked up a mouth-watering menu of house-smoked barbecue eats – think charcoal-grilled meat, trays and rotisserie-style bites. The cosy new incarnation is envisaged as an outdoor eatery and will be officially unveiled on May 14 – we’ll have all of the delicious details for you as they come to light so watch this space.
