Conscious caffeinators – Spilt Milk Van hits the road to spread good moods and great brews

A new coffee caravan will be hitting the streets of the Gold Coast this week, but it’s far from your normal caffeine dispensary on wheels. Spilt Milk Van is the brainchild of three local mental health workers looking to offer the city two things – smooth brew and good moods.

After months of work by the trio, the 1970s Millard caravan – affectionately dubbed ‘Millie’ – is now officially on the road. Basically, Spilt Milk Van aiming to remove the stigma that surrounds mental health by educating the masses that it’s okay to chat about how you feel with other people, especially over a morning brew. The whole caffeine-fuelled concept is driven by the simple ideation that talking about your feelings should be as easy as ordering your morning coffee. Makes sense, right?

We all get a “how are you?” when we walk into a local cafe to order our lattes, to which the majority of us robotically answer “good, thanks!”, but if you’re not actually that great and want to have a chat, then it’s encouraged. Along with listening ears, Millie is armed with Social Espresso coffee and delicious handmade doughnuts from popular southport sweets creator D Point Ten. You’ll find the Spilt Milk Van at various markets and events across the Gold Coast – keep an eye on social media for this little gem’s whereabouts.

Bonus (because we like you): Spilt Milk Van will be at Burleigh Sports Club this Saturday July 21 for the AFL club’s Mental Health Awareness Round – get down there from 8:30 am.
