Sparrow Eating House unveils its new winter menu
The new winter menu at Sparrow Eating House is the culinary version of a big warm hug, and just like a hug, it promises to leave you feeling all happy inside. Filled with a selection of new dishes as well as some new takes on old faithfuls, the new menu takes comfort food to a tasty new level.
For those who let out an audible gasp at the thought of a new menu at Sparrow, don’t worry because the cold rare beef fillet with whipped horseradish butter, white truffle oil and corn bread hasn’t gone anywhere. Now that we’ve got that cleared up, we can move onto some of the equally as amazing new winter selections including rabbit and tellegeo arancini balls with tarragon salsa, slow-cooked Guinness beef cheeks with Irish mash and beetroot gnocchi with baby winter vegetables and goat’s cheese. The new menu has also taken some of the old favourites and given them a fresh new look, the Byron Bay pork belly, for example, now includes carrot caraway puree, triangles of baked pears and a side of liquorice sauce.
If you’re a newbie to the establishment, the fare has been designed to share although honestly no one would judge if you ordered a plate of the organic fried potatoes for every person. The extensive drinks list showcases some sensational small wineries and craft breweries but it’s the curious cocktails that brings all of the boys and girls to the yard. The peanut butter martini in particular has amassed a loyal fan base. Finish your meal with the gorgeous chocolate pate and peanut butter mille fille or revisit the old faithful banoffee jaffle with salted caramel sauce. For opening times, see our Stumble Guide.
