Slurping Panda Noodle Bar celebrates its third birthday

Slurping Panda is forgoing the cheerios and sausage rolls for some more authentic Asian-inspired delights to celebrate its third birthday. The Asian-fusion restaurant has become an institution for deliciously fragrant curries and flavourful noodle dishes.

Satisfied diners spill into the Old Burleigh Theatre Arcade on a nightly basis as testament to the restaurant’s enduring popularity. A far cry from your run-of-the-mill Chinese takeaway joint, Slurping Panda Noodle Bar is a melting-pot of flavours from all the different cuisines of Asia fused together with Western cooking techniques in a casual dining environ. The tasty hybrid is the brainchild of Donovan Pearse who has spent time eating his way around Asia developing his appreciation for unique flavour combinations.

The ample menu offers a myriad of dishes to satisfy your craving. For carnivorous folk, the Pork Japchae Stir Fry dish that contains slow roasted pork belly, wok-tossed eggplant, fresh basil, chilli, cherry tomato and kai lan in oyster sauce with sweet potato noodles is undoubtedly one of the main crowd pleasers as well as the Scallop Cha, a stir fry of seared Japanese scallops, radish, kai lan, wakame and soy beans in a lemon soy dressing with green tea soba noodles. The fare is all made from locally sourced produce and the curry pastes and stocks are made onsite daily. If the heat is proving a little too much to handle, sip on a Bintang, Singha, Tsing Tao or Sapporo that are on tap or order yourself one (or more) of Slurping Panda’s fresh cocktails. The Singapore Sling and Japanese Slipper come highly recommended but it’s the signature Drunken Panda that mixes Kraken spiced rum with coconut cream, coriander, basil, mint, lime and topped with ginger beer that has tongues waging. See our Stumble Guide for opening times.
