The doors to Sisterhood Coffee quietly opened last Friday (May 31), after a fortnight of keeping passers-by and rubberneckers intrigued as the new venue took shape on the high-traffic Palm Beach site. Christie and Sam have set out to strip things back to basics, delivering a menu that’s intentionally simple, yet comforting, combining it with great coffee (by Melbourne roaster Genovese) and a genuine neighbourhood vibe. The all-day menu covers all of your breakfast and brunch classics, from eggs on toast to a hearty breakfast burger, and zucchini and fetta fritters. There’s also a nourish bowl finished with spiced capsicum and labneh, soul-warming baked eggs with Boston beans and sausage, and for the sweet tooths – housemade waffles with a berry-infused cream-cheese frosting, fresh fruit, lemon curd and a mini pitcher of maple syrup.

The ethos at Sisterhood is simple – it’s all about the people. For instance, Christie and Sam know a fair chunk of us are drinking milk alternatives nowadays and they also know that some of us don’t vibe with gluten – so they don’t charge extra for ‘normal’ things like almond milk (or any non-milk) or gluten-free bread. There are also plans down the track to work closely with the local community, including introducing a line of tote bags to raise money for women’s refuges, as well as after-hours cooking classes with local community groups, youth centres and disability organisations.
