Rubi Red Kitchen & Bar has unveiled a Shanghai High Tea with bottomless cocktails

Whiling away an afternoon with a cocktail in hand, engaging in spirited conversations as you graze your way through plates of fine food as the sun ever-so-slowly sinks below the horizon, are the kind of cup-filling, soul-satisfying experiences we live for. If you too possess an appreciation for such food-filled adventures but always get a little bit nervous when the bill arrives, we have some excellent news – Rubi Red Kitchen & Bar has gone and dropped its brand-new Shanghai High Tea with the option to include bottomless bevvies. Read on for all of the delicious details …

While high tea can immediately conjure images of very civilised afternoons sipping tea and munching on elegant (tiny) cucumber sandwiches and bite-sized desserts, Michael Lambie, aka one of Australia’s most awarded and well-respected chefs, has gone and turned the humble pastime on its head with the launch of his Shanghai High Tea. Forget miniature morsels, Michael’s version of high tea is a yum cha menu packed with some of his personal favourite dishes – think sake-cured salmon upon a crisp wonton, soy-braised beef bao with pickled cucumber and chilli, vegetable and mushroom dumplings with vegan XO sauce, steamed barramundi fillet with black bean dressing and Rubi Red’s char-sui pork with special fried rice. The best part? You can indulge in this seriously impressive set menu for just $49 per person. Yes – you read right – it’s a bonafide bargain!

And you can forget the old Earl Grey, those keen to elevate their Shanghai High Tea experience can do so with a two-hour bottomless beverage package for only $50 per person. The package must be taken by all guests at the table and includes unlimited Tiger beers, prosecco and roaming cocktails supported by Peddlers Gin. Since opening earlier this year, Rubi Red Kitchen & Bar has won over the nighttime crowd with Michael’s unique style of Asian cuisine and curious cocktails. Now, the celebrated chef is looking up and activating the rooftop bar with the Shanghai High Tea, which is available from June 18 at two seating times – 11:30 am and 2:00 pm every Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Ready to feast? Book a table on Rubi Red’s rooftop.
