The round-up: The Gold Coast’s must-try new venues

The Gold Coast is in the midst of a culinary evolution. The proof is in the pudding, and burgers, and cocktails, and you get the idea. Every time you turn around there seems to be a new place popping up that promises something new and exciting. We’ve rounded up some of our favourite places that have opened in 2015, feel free to make it your personal mission to visit them all by year’s end.

We firmly believe that breakfast sets the tone for the remainder of the day. Have a great morning meal and your day will follow suit, on the contrary, have a mediocre eggs bene and you may as well go back to bed because it’s just not your day. Hedge your bets for a great day with breakfast at Burleigh’s Social Brew, Urbanistar or Parlour CoffeeParadox Coffee Roasters at The 4217 has found a dedicated following of disciples for its all-day breakfast as has Larder in Burleigh Waters, just one tip, get the crispy pancetta, it’s well worth the extra gym sessions you’ll need to schedule.

If you fancy a casual bite and a beer, House of Brews in Surfers Paradise is always a good idea, let’s be honest, anywhere that has over 30 boutique beers on tap is quite alright by us. Palm Beach’s Lester & Earl and Coolangatta’s BIN 72 are equally as alluring on a fine day and if you’re in the mood for something amazingly fresh and healthy, Fiery Deli in Burleigh has you covered with delightful pockets of joy they call arepas. For delicious Mexican nosh, make a date with Miss Margarita in Broadbeach and if you’ve got pizza on your mind, pop in to Salt Meats Cheese and give one of their crispy creations a whirl. For tapas and cocktails, pull up a table at Sparrow Eating House and work your way through the moreish menu, just be sure to leave room for the banoffee jaffle for dessert. Feeding the Gold Coast’s obsession with bountiful burgers, Boom Boom Burgers on Chevron Island, Brooklyn Depot in Surfers Paradise, Easy Street Diner in Mermaid Beach and Burgster in Palm Beach all plate up some seriously fat stacks.

Taking the coast’s culinary game to delicious new heights, Seascape Restaurant + BarCicchetti Gold CoastThe Glenelg Public HouseThe CovenantJåMm and Mamasan Kitchen + Bar have all raised the stakes, and in some cases the steaks. If a cheeky tipple is on the agenda, embark on a mission to find one of the coast’s secret watering holes such as HIDDEN at Tugun and Nineteen Orchid Avenue in Surfers Paradise. Cocoon Ultralounge Bar Dining provides the perfect backdrop to while away an afternoon with a cocktail in hand and BonBon bar has over 100 tequilas and mezcals lining its shelves so you certainly won’t go thirsty. For the sweet tooths, Negative 210Oliver Brown Belgian Chocolate Cafe and Donut Boyz will surely satisfy and if it’s gelato you crave, look no further than Gelato Messina in Coolangatta.

The Stumble Guide is our comprehensive Gold Coast dining guide with more than 870 places to eat, drink, shop and play.
