Wine ice-cream and ghost-pepper hot sauce – five must-try eats from Regionals Flavours’ Grazed and Grown event

Unless you’ve been living under a rock (or ignoring our emails and if so, why?), then you’re very familiar with the news that beloved food and wine festival Regional Flavours will soon return to South Bank Parklands. The foodie festivities will kick off with tastebud-tempting event Grazed and Grown, which will be filling bellies from June 18–20. So you know what to snack and sip on, we’ve rounded up five flavourful picks that you can road test at Grazed and Grown.

Stick a spoon into this jar full of cake
If you’ve ever tried a dessert made by the flavour gurus behind The Mason Baker, you’ll know they have a special way of hitting the spot. The Mason Baker’s gourmet jar cakes – that come in delicious flavours like salted caramel, chocolate ganache and strawberries and cream – are a standout, but we’ve also heard good things about its cookie jars. These decadent bites will be making an appearance at Grazed and Grown but be warned, they might be snapped up quickly by sweet tooths in need of a sugar fix.

Taste-test wine ice-cream
Yes, you read that right – wine ice-cream is a thing and you can scoop some up at Grazed and Grown. This tasty creation is thanks to a collaboration between winery Kingsley Grove Estate and the iced-treat slingers at Lick! Ice Cream. The wine ice-cream comes in four delicious flavour combinations – Dark Chocolate and Fat Fox Port, Shiraz and Raisin, Merlot and Vanilla Bean, and Verdelho and Lemon Sorbet. We’ll try one of everything, thanks.

Throw back a Stradbroke Island beer
Okay, so this pick doesn’t technically fall under a food group, but in our humble opinion beer could replace the entire food pyramid. One new beer to try is from the frothy folk at Straddie Brewing Co, who currently have plans to construct a brewery on Stradbroke Island. At the moment, the beer is being brewed inside Ballistic Beer Co, so you know this sudsy sip will be well worthy of your time. Bottoms up!

Sate your sweet tooth with cold-fusion honey
If you have a particular affection for honey, then you’ll be happy to hear that Sunshine Coast brand Hum Honey is bringing its salivation-worthy selection of products to Grazed and Grown. This isn’t your average honey – these bad boys are cold extracted (which means more health benefits) and have been infused with delicious extras like truffle, fingerlime, ginger, lavender, tumeric and much more. Whether you use it as a topping for your morning toast or spoon it into your tea, these buzz-worthy goodies are worthy trying.Spice up your life with this hot sauce
Grown on a 40-acre farm near Kingaroy, Chinchilli’s spicy products are nothing to be laughed at. Coined “the hottest sauce in town”, this range of hot sauces and chilli-infused goodies promise to get you sweating. Our pick of the zesty bunch is the Ghost Chilli Sauce, which is made from the extremely hot ghost and Carolina Reaper chilli. If you’ve ever watched an episode of Hot Ones and thought “I could do that, easy”, then now is your chance to prove it, my friend.
