Percy’s Corner cures caffeine emergencies
Housed in a tiny hole-in-the-wall corner within the Gold Coast’s original ambulance station from 1919, Percy’s Corner in Southport cures serious caffeine withdrawals with a range of specialty coffee.
Whether your penchant is for a punchy, flavourful espresso, a sweet, icy cold-drip or a refined, well-rounded pour-over, the fine folks at Percy’s Corner can certainly oblige.
Named after Percy Raby, the first superintendent who lived in and operated the station from the early 1920s to 1940s, Percy’s Corner is about the experience of coffee. The passionate owners will take you on a journey that begins with their house blend, sourced direct from farms around the world and roasted in Sydney by Single Origin Roasters.
The difference, they say, is in the process. A process where quality is passionately pursued through every step of coffee production, from farm to cup. The staff at Percy’s are as particular about the way each cup is brewed as they are about its presentation on your table and the record playing on the stereo. It’s all part of the experience.
While the focus is on the myriad of coffee combinations, Percy’s Corner also offers a rotating menu that includes rustic lunch bagels as well as daily pastries and sweets.
For serious enthusiasts, Percy’s Corner will host a workshop early in the new year that offers insight into the wonderful world of filter coffee and how to replicate the process at home. There are also plans in January to run a screening of the internationally acclaimed A Film About Coffee.
