The start of winter heralds long nights and dropping temperatures (by Gold Coast standards, anyway) – the perfect conditions to cosy up in an intimate bar, sipping something soul-warming. Opening at the perfect time is The Vault, which is set to take up residence in Broadbeach in June and offer a jazz-era inspired experience for those seeking out a sophisticated locale. Those who don’t mind a dram will be pleased to hear that The Vault’s quality sips will include over 75 bottles of whiskey, cognac and rum.

A selection of modern tapas-style bar bites will also be on offer, which will be inspired by owners Gopal and Ekta Vadalia’s travels throughout India, North Carolina and Australia – think murgh makhana with pan-fried gnocchi, crab ragoons, and native saltbush and mountain-pepper fried squid. With an interior serving up Art Deco vibes thanks to a glossy black interior with gold accents and a seven-metre long bar, The Vault will be classy but not pretentious – anyone is welcome to pull up a stool at the bar and enjoy a craft beer, specialty cocktail or signature whisky. For those looking to add a little something extra to take home for later, there will also be a selection of fine Cuban cigars that bar-goers can choose from. It wouldn’t be a jazz-era bar without jazz, so expect plenty of live music including jazz, blues, and soloists to keep the vibes high.
