Pavement Whispers: The Bread Social expands, gin parlours and new dessert bars

From whispers of new gin parlours to exciting bakery expansions, The Weekend Edition is always on the search for the latest news on the Gold Coast, dedicated to ensuring its readers are in the know. When we put our ears to the pavement this week, this is what we found out …

The Bread Social
Ever-popular southern bakehouse The Bread Social is expanding. Following its humble beginnings at The Farm in Byron Bay, owner Sam Saulwick and the team went on to open The Bread Social’s first standalone bakehouse and coffee hang on Bay Street in Tweed Heads in late 2016. Now, almost two years on, The Bread Social is set to expand beyond its current offering of on-the-go pastries, savouries and fresh-baked bread – the team has taken over the premises next door and works are underway to create a sit-down cafe-style space. As well as more seating, we’ll also see an expanded food and drink offering, alongside The Bread Social’s renowned sweet and savoury baked goods. The menu will rotate regularly to showcase the best produce from local producers and growers in the surrounding Tweed region. Excited? Same. The Bread Social 2.0 is just weeks away from launching (don’t stress – the OG space is still running as usual). We’ll have all of the details for you soon.

Gin Parlour at Miami Marketta
Miami Marketta will soon be unveiling its newest addition – the Gin Parlour. The opening of the eye-catching bar space will also mark a new weekly event for the entertainment and street-food hub, with the Gin Parlour to open every single Thursday evening, starting September 20. The new bar will be serving a range of gins and gin-based cocktails each Thursday, supported by live jazz music and an extensive menu from The Italian Job and Mexican street stall Double T. We’ll give you a peek inside the new Gin Parlour as well as details on Miami Marketta’s all-new Thursday night trade very soon.

Infinite Dessert & Cocktail Bar
Palm Beach is about to get some more sweet action with Infinite Dessert & Cocktail Bar to open in late September. Taking over the premises vacated by Makasan Indonesian restaurant below the 19th Avenue On The Beach apartment tower, the sugar-fuelled bar, we’re told, will be serving boundary-pushing desserts like exploding meringues as well as a series of theatrical cocktails. It’s expected to open on September 28. Keep your eyes peeled, sweeties – we’ll have more details for you then.
