The Gold Coast’s culinary landscape is rapidly evolving. Perhaps one of the greatest glow-ups of recent years is the beachside suburb of Palm Beach. So much so, that the laid-back locale has attracted the keen eye of the Ridgeway Group, headed by the award-winning chef and restauranteur Daniel Ridgeway and his wife Ruggie, which is set to embark on its most ambitious restaurant to date – a seriously showstopping 150-seater on the corner of Palm Beach Avenue and the Gold Coast Highway. Nestled underneath the newly constructed Village Palm Beach, the dreamy new venue is aptly named Palm Beach Ave – or PBA for short – and it is set to open its doors next Wednesday July 13. Here’s everything you need to know …

The name Daniel Ridgeway has become fairly synonymous with sophisticated dining here on the Gold Coast, having created some of the Gold Coast’s most loved restaurants including Little Truffle in Mermaid Beach alongside BiN 232 at Pacific Fair Shopping Centre and BiN 72 in Coolangatta. Palm Beach Ave is set to offer a refreshing change of pace for Daniel and Ruggie, with a paired back offering where you can feel equally at ease strolling in straight off the beach as you would in your Sunday best. To that end, Palm Beach Ave walks the line between slick and sophisticated and casual-cool. The Balcony, complete with ocean views and a plush pink circular booth, will be the perfect perch for a long lunch, while The Garden, on the highway-fronting side, is best suited for a casual bite. Inside, Palm Beach Ave is truly a work of art. Clamshell chandeliers hang overhead illuminating the palm-printed wallpaper, which was sourced exclusively from the Beverly Hills Hotel in Los Angeles. Pretty pops of pastel pink and mint green radiate a traditionally feminine feel, a stark contrast to the other Ridgeway venues that are darker and moodier. Ideal for groups, Palm Beach Avenue offers an array of different seating areas and configurations as well as QR-code ordering, so you can avoid that pesky split-bill situation.

To ensure Palm Beach Avenue is more than just a pretty face, Daniel will be returning to the kitchen alongside the head chef from Little Truffle, Jason Burt. As for the fare, the modern Australian menu features an array of crowd-pleasing classics with Daniel’s signature attention to detail and quality. The breakfast and brunch offering, which is another first for the Ridgeway Group, offers chili-scrambled eggs and smoked salmon alongside some more adventurous morning morsels such as savoury-style waffles loaded with crisp karaage chicken. As the sun sinks, the menu flips to the evening offering, which steps it up a notch with a tightly curated array of appetisers, pizza, pasta, burgers, grilled seafood and meat. The ‘raw’ section is undoubtedly a stand-out with tastes of spicy tuna tartare and kingfish sashimi alongside freshly shucked oysters and beef tataki. It’s not often that we dedicate attention to a kid’s menu, however, the kid’s menu at Palm Beach Ave perfectly encapsulates what it’s like dining out with small humans, with dishes such as ‘I Don’t Want That’ (cheeseburger and chips), ‘I Don’t Care’ (fish and chips), ‘I’m Not Hungry’ (ham and cheese pizza) and ‘Yes Please’ (kid’s ice-cream). Your four-legged friend needn’t miss out the fun, with a dedicated section of the menu for pampered pooches featuring bowls loaded with baked salmon and barramundi, steamed rice and fresh peas, and doggie drinks including the ‘L’Barkery Pawroni’ and ‘Pawsecco’, which is made using beef broth.

Palm Beach Ave will officially open Wednesday July 13. Hit the link in our Stumble Guide for booking details.
