Sky-high breakfasts and sparkling sundowners – Nineteen at The Star has celebratory dining covered
When it comes to excellent places to dine, we Gold Coasters are pretty spoilt for choice. Whatever your mood, there is something for everyone – from corner cafes serving a delightful eggs Benny to venues that are a little more … elevated. Perched on Level 19 of The Darling, Nineteen at The Star’s culinary offering is seriously next-level, both literally and metaphorically. If you’re in the mood to celebrate or after something a little more unique for your dining experience, the rooftop restaurant and bar has you covered – serving everything from luxe morning spreads through to flowing sundowner sessions.
You’ve probably heard the expression that breakfast is the most important meal of the day, but have you ever wondered why? As it turns out, the answer is hidden right there in the word itself – it’s literally to break the fast after hours of sleep (who knew?). If you’re searching for a breakfast spot that not only pleases the palate, but also the eyes, look no further than Nineteen at The Star. From Tuesday to Friday, diners can tuck into a menu curated by executive chef Uday Huja to deliver a mix of elevated favourites such as French toast with house-made butter, seasonal fruit and maple syrup, and heirloom tomatoes with buffalo mozzarella and salsa verde on rye. From Saturday through to Monday, things kick up a notch with the full (mouth-watering) menu. Be tempted by a drool-worthy bacon sandwich with gooey cheese and green-bean chutney, or perhaps a crab omelette sided with a crisp hash brown and fermented chilli. For a truly celebratory experience, start with a breakfast cocktail, because why not? Choices include mimosas, bellinis, bloody Marys, martinis and breakfast margaritas. One of each, please.
If you prefer your celebrations a little later in the day, every Saturday from 4:00–7:00 pm Nineteen at The Star invites you to take a seat on the terrace for Bellini Saturdays. With flowing bubbles and moreish share platters served up all afternoon, it’s the ultimate way to kick off your weekend. Once you find yourself a perch overlooking the sparkling skyline, you’ll be treated to three hours of peach-hued sips as you bathe in the glow of the setting sun. Bellinis aren’t the only indulgence, no siree. You and your crew will share in a decadent menu of bite-sized delights including freshly shucked oysters, house-cured olives and mushroom and mozzarella arancini balls, along with a selection of delicious cheeses, charcuterie and French fries with garlic aioli. The three-hour-long session is guaranteed to make your weekend a whole lot bubblier. You can head to Bellini Saturdays for $79 per person from 4:00–7:00 pm every Saturday at Nineteen at The Star – just be sure to book in advance!
