Enjoy tipples and tunes until the wee hours at Nobby Beach’s new live-music den Nightcap
It sure has been a wild few weeks on the Nobby Beach strip. We saw the departure of Hellenika and arrival of Loki, the closure of Pinky’s, plus we said hello to Mr. and finally welcomed back the team from i like ramen. Now, the bustling precinct has a new late-night live-music bar to add to the mix – Nightcap.
The new watering hole is the sibling venue to Nightjar in Burleigh Heads, marking the latest venture from Gold Coast hospitality identity Scott Imlach, who is also behind Bine Bar & Dining up the other end of Nobby Beach, Hideaway Kitchen & Bar in Broadbeach, and Mr Hizola’s in Burleigh Heads. After travelling across America, Scott set out to bring a true San Diego-style ‘dive bar’ concept to the bustling Nobby Beach precinct – a place where locals can listen to live solos, duos and trios, dance the night away and sip cold beers and fun cocktails until the wee hours.
After taking over part of the former IGA space on the Gold Coast Highway, Scott and the team undertook huge internal works and state-of-the-art sound proofing to create Nightcap. Its back-to-basics fit-out sees the walls dripping in graffiti and dotted with artworks and bright neon signs, while a small main stage area will be graced by local singers and bands nightly. While the weekends will attract the crowds, mid-week you can expect local up-and-coming artists to hit the stage for more low-key late nights.
