Feast your way around the southern Gold Coast’s newest night market, Night Bites

Grazing your way through a self-curated culinary journey before succumbing to the inevitable food coma and basking in the serenade of live tunes is a pretty excellent way to spend a Saturday evening, if you ask us. If this also sounds like your ideal weekend activity, there’s a brand-new night market in town that you need to add to your to-do list. It’s called Night Bites and it kicks off this Saturday September 3 at Palm Beach Currumbin State High School. Here’s everything you need to know …

Anthony Bourdain once mused “there is nothing more vital to a … city’s health than good street food.” If you share the late, great chef’s ingrained love of street food in all of its various forms, get excited for Palmy’s new Night Bites market. Among the market’s mouth-watering starting line-up of 50 vendors will be Juicy Juice smoothie and juice bar, sweet treats from the cheekily named Two Little Tarts and Oh Cannoli, succulent barbecue from Rosticceria, Filipino charcoal barbecue from Parilya Eatery, burgers from Fried Guys Food Truck and parcels of happiness – otherwise known as pastels – from our pals at Pastel & Bossa, to name a few. It’s a choose-your-own-adventure story with an impressive array of global cuisine from celebrated chefs and home cooks recreating humble dishes from their childhood.

Night Bites is the latest offering from The Market Co GC, headed by Coralie Harris. Having spent more than 15 years running the brilliantly successful Palm Beach Farmers Market as well as founding the HOTA Farmers and Artisan Markets and Racecourse Markets, Coralie knows a thing or two about creating a successful community event. Accompanying the global cuisine, Night Bites will host a rotating roster of local musicians to curate a dreamy soundtrack for your food-tuck feast. Headlining the opening night will be Lexi Clark Duo, who you might recognise as a finalist from Season 5 of The Voice Australia. Rounding out the offering is a selection of mocktails by Mr. Consistent, non-alcoholic beers and wines as well as a boutique distillery.

Ready to feast? Fire up the group chat and rally the crew to roll out a rug under the stars. The markets start at 4:00 pm and runs through to 9:00 pm. Night Bites officially kicks off this Saturday, September 3 and entry is free. If the weather looks uncertain, check the market’s Facebook page or Night Bites on Instagram for updates.
