Fill your morning with coffee and vegan doughnuts at Next Door Espresso

Southern dwellers, if you’re on the hunt for a quality morning brew, then we’ve got a new friend we’d like you to meet – Next Door Espresso. Earlier this week, the doors quietly swung open to the new espresso bar, which overlooks Terranora Creek, bringing specialty coffee, on-the-go eats and next-level vegan treats to the relaxed Tweed precinct.

Nestled along Dry Dock Road overlooking Terranora Creek, Next Door Espresso fills a void for caffeine-fuelled locals. For those that appreciate a top-notch brew, you will be happy to know that Moonshine Coffee, from Federal near Byron Bay, is being pumped out here on the daily. Owners Kim Piper and Simon Thompson, who hail from Rockhampton, are behind the new creek-front espresso bar, which is located in the space formerly occupied by the Dry Dock General Store cafe.

This passionate duo are looking to restore the simplicity and efficiency of traditional cafes, by focussing on specialty coffee, with tasty no-fuss food options. Remember the days when we used to go to cafes just to sit and have a coffee, with a toastie on the side? Yeah, it’s like that. Which means you won’t find a towering eggs benny topped with edible flowers here – rather, it’s all about quick and quality coffee, and succinct food options like sourdough sambos, vegan doughnuts, protein balls and croissants. It’s simple and straight-forward, with a cool, local vibe. If you’re looking for regular morning coffee stop, or if you’re keen to step outside the square and venture to the south side (do it) for a boutique brew, then pop Next Door Espresso on your hit-list.
