Nestled along Dry Dock Road overlooking Terranora Creek, Next Door Espresso fills a void for caffeine-fuelled locals. Owners Kim Piper and Simon Thompson, who hail from Rockhampton, are behind the new creek-front espresso bar, which is located in the space formerly occupied by the Dry Dock General Store cafe.

This passionate duo are looking to restore the simplicity and efficiency of traditional cafes, by focussing on specialty coffee, with tasty no-fuss food options. Remember the days when we used to go to cafes just to sit and have a coffee, with a toastie on the side? Yeah, it’s like that. Which means you won’t find a towering eggs benny topped with edible flowers here – rather, it’s all about quick and quality coffee, and succinct food options like sourdough sambos, vegan doughnuts, protein balls and croissants. It’s simple and straight-forward, with a cool, local vibe.
