Picnics under the stars and sunset rooftop parties – celebrate New Year’s Eve at The Star

Now that Melbourne Cup is done and dusted, it’s just a hop, skip and a jump into the silly season. Friends, before you get consumed by festive functions, let’s talk New Year’s Eve for a moment. The year 2021 was one of unfulfilled expectations for many, so if ever there was a time to be a total baller and send the year off in sensational style – this is it (we know, we said that last year, too). The Star Gold Coast is upping the ante with a smorgasbord of things to see, do and devour, from pretty picnics on The Lawn through to swanky sunset soirees and sumptuous spreads. Read on for a few ideas on how you can make your countdown to midnight extra special this New Year’s Eve …

Garden Kitchen & Bar
If food, friends and frivolity sound like your ideal vibe for New Year’s Eve, then The Star Gold Coast has got your last party of the year sorted. The fun kicks off at Garden Kitchen & Bar, where guests can head out onto the lush grass of The Lawn to savour a delectable picnic spread and three-hour premium beverage package. Under the starry night sky, revellers can pick at a charcuterie plate loaded with San Daniele prosciutto, salami, wagyu bresaola, pickled vegetables, grissini and marinated Australian olives, or munch on Mooloolaba prawn sliders and mini cheese kransky hot dogs. Inside, The Restaurant will be delighting diners with two sittings available – the first from 5:00–7:00 pm, and then again from 8:00–11:00 pm. The early birds can make their way through the venue’s signature a la carte menu, while the second seating offers a sensational four-course set menu with an accompanying three-hour beverage package. Once you’ve had your fill, step outside and enjoy the festivities on The Lawn, which includes headline sets from Dirty South and Jordan Burns – plus, the Live on The Lawn sessions are completely free! Head here for tickets.

Isoletto Pool Club
Ring in the new year overlooking the twinkling Gold Coast skyline atop The Star Gold Coast’s new tower, partying poolside on The Leisure Deck for this Saint-Tropez-themed soiree. Featuring live beats from special guest DJs Northeast Party House, roaming canapes featuring locally sourced ingredients, a selection of live food stations and freshly shucked oysters, the coast’s newest venue is the place to be for those keen to see in 2022 with a bang. Guests will be treated to a luxe three-hour food package, including roaming bites such as mini Moolooolaba crab sliders, two-cheese arancini with truffle aioli, tiger-prawn brioche buns and pork-and-fennel sausage orecchiette. There will also be three live stations – an oyster bar, a dessert station and a nitrogen station, where you can watch in awe as chefs freeze chocolatey delights right before your eyes. A four-hour premium beverage package will keep whistles wet, plus there will be champagne flowing for a midnight toast. You can nab your ticket here, but be quick as this one is sure to sell out.

Cucina Vivo
For those wishing they were spending New Year’s Eve in the Mediterranean, Cucina Vivo will be serving up salivation-inducing Italian bites across two sittings. Eager diners can arrive early for a three-course set menu and a welcome drink on arrival, or settle in from 8:30 pm to indulge in a three-and-a-half-hour beverage package and a lavish six-course feast. This stellar spread features the likes of San Daniele prosciutto with buffalo mozzarella, wood-grilled ciabatta and heirloom tomatoes, beetroot-cured Atlantic salmon, and Yamba king prawns with chilli, garlic and parsley butter. For mains, treat your tastebuds to chargrilled Black Tyde sirloin with sides of parmesan mashed potatoes, green beans and salsa rosa. Your fanciful feast will conclude with a show-stopping Ferrari-red chocolate sphere. There will be live entertainment throughout the evening and, when the time comes, guests will have exclusive viewing of The Star’s poolside midnight fireworks from Cucina Vivo’s terrace. Nineteen at The Star
We have endured another pretty wild year, so if you really want to say sayonara in sensational style – head up 19 levels to The Darling’s rooftop for a sophisticated soiree at Nineteen at The Star. You and your crew can soak in the insatiable view with the sunset seating, which includes a bountiful five-course set menu featuring Nineteen’s signature oysters, prawn and Oscietra caviar-topped potato terrine, Patagonian toothfish and more. Those who are keen to wait for the clock to strike 12:00 am with a champagne in hand can opt for the moonlight seating, which takes the menu to lavish new heights with the addition of Nineteen’s Fruits de Mer fine seafood selection (Sydney Rock Oysters with champagne mignonette, anyone?). This will be one New Year’s Eve you’ll be talking about for a long, long time to come. Book your ticket here.

Kiyomi
Lovers of exceptional Japanese cuisine will be happy to hear that Kiyomi will also be tantalising tastebuds this New Year’s Eve, with a magnificent nine-course dinner created by the visionary executive head chef Chase Kojima. Sip a welcome glass of bubbly before dining on dishes like kingfish miso ceviche with green chilli and crispy potato, grilled prawn with burnt soy, shellfish butter and garlic chips, wagyu flank with hatcho miso and chef’s assorted mixed sushi. This delectable feast even includes two desserts to finish the night on an extra-sweet note – an Okinawa black-sugar parfait with umeshu meringue and candied walnuts, and a green-tea mochi with strawberry milkshake. Diners can opt for an early sitting at 5:30 pm, or the second sitting at 7:45 pm. Nab a table here.

Early birds can settle into the jewel-hued dining room and enjoy the freedom of choice from the venue’s extraordinary a la carte menu, or bring a mighty appetite to the second seating and feast on a four-course set menu, which includes Uncle Su’s special dim sum platter alongside mains of filet mignon with king mushroom in red-wine sauce, pan-fried king prawns in spicy sauce and steamed toothfish fillet with baby choy. Plus, you’ll be handed a glass of champagne on arrival to really start the celebrations! Jump over here to book a table.
