Main Street Burger Bar
Hailing from Byron Bay, the popular Main Street Burger Bar is set to open its doors in Broadbeach in April, as part of the major facelift underway at The Oasis Shopping Centre’s dining precinct. Expect a similar offering of burgers, beers, shakes, handcrafted sodas and cocktails at Main Street’s new Broadbeach digs, with a couple of exciting new bites on the way. There’s everything from the Classic Ten Buck Hamburger, the Old Skool Chicken and The Fancy Joe with double servings of grass-fed beef, aged red cheddar, smoked bacon, raw beetroot and truffle aioli. Not to mention craft beers, sweet shakes and cold sodas that both come with the option for an added nip of booze – that’s right, boozy milkshakes are coming! Getting excited? Same. Keep your eyes peeled here, friends – we’ll keep you posted.

Eat Make Grow Markets
The talented team at The Design Collective have announced a new open-air twilight food and produce market. The first Eat Make Grow Markets will be held on April 15 (Easter Saturday), and is set to become a regular seasonal event. The market site is located in The Sunland Group’s The Lakes Residences in Mermaid Waters (you know, the giant 42-hectare site where Bermuda Street meets Hooker Boulevard), which will become a significant urban landmark for the Gold Coast. Part of the masterplanned community will be a leisure/lifestyle retail village called The Lanes, featuring a market square, retail spaces and dining venues, which is due for completion in 2021. So, to pave the way for what’s to come in a few years time, The Lanes site will transform into regular foodie hub, with the Eat Make Grow markets to feature food stalls and trucks, a farmers market and makers market (so locals can buy fresh produce by night) plus live cooking demonstrations using local produce, crafts markets, artist displays, live music and family-friendly entertainment. We’re pretty excited for this one. We’ll keep you posted with the finer details for the first market on April 15.

Salt Cafe Bar
The former Flavours@Ferry cafe in The Brickworks Centre on Ferry Road has closed its doors and is currently undergoing a major transformation. Works are underway on the site, with the interior and alfresco areas being completely reconstructed to create the centre’s newest foodie destination – Salt Cafe Bar. It’s not just a name change – this is a completely new venue with a refreshed menu and entirely new vibe. The doors are set to open by April.
