Finger-lickin’ feast – Say ‘yes yes’ to Pacific Fair’s new chook nook, NeNe Chicken

There aren’t too many foods that get us salivating quite like Korean-style fried chicken. Even the thought of sinking our teeth into the delightfully crisp exterior is enough to get us drooling, and don’t even get us started on the smell. Oh, the smell! If you share our undying love for finger-lickin’ chicken, there’s a brand-new chook nook in town that you absolutely need to know about – it’s called NeNe Chicken and you’ll find it at Pacific Fair Shopping Centre.

If the name NeNe Chicken sounds familiar, it’s because there are actually 40 outposts scattered across Australia and more than 1000 stores across South Korea. Translating to mean ‘Yes! Yes’ in Korean, NeNe Chicken has been slinging its own kind of fried happiness for 25 years, so suffice to say they’ve had ample time to really nail their offering. The Pacific Fair iteration, which is located on The Boulevard (across from Zara), is the second in Queensland, joining a space in Uptown in Brisbane, with a third spot at Australia Fair coming oh-so-soon.

Okay, enough backstory, let’s get down to business – as you might expect, fried chicken is the hero here. NeNe’s menu features nine different flavour combinations, ranging from original to Freaking Hot, which is exactly as described. The ‘Swicy’ sweet and spicy is a great entry point for those who are new to the NeNe experience, while those who can handle the heat can tuck in to the ‘Snowing Chilli’. Once you’ve decided the flavour, choose between wingettes and drumettes, classic and boneless varieties, that are also available as a wrap and sandwiched between a burger bun. Round out your fried-chicken feast with a side of cheesy mayo chips or embrace a real Ekka vibe with a tornado potato.
