Prepare your taste buds for the newly opened Nahm Talay Thai in Surfers Paradise

Thai cuisine could very well be the ultimate crowd pleaser. Varied and full of flavour, there’s something for every palate. The newly opened Nahm Talay Thai in Surfers Paradise has taken everything you love about Thai and Southeast Asian flavours – the heat, the spices, the aromatics – and melded them together with modern fusion to create a thoroughly unique and delicious dining experience. The brand-new venue is here to tantalise your taste buds with innovative dishes and curious creations – here’s everything you need to know …

Surviving a decade in an industry as fickle as hospitality is no mean feat. To not only survive but thrive during what is widely regarded as the toughest years in recent history is something else entirely. Nahm Talay Thai is the latest offering from hospitality veterans Pattaree (Pat) Jiranuchaiwattana and Vitchaya (Alex) Hasitawet, who have funnelled a decade of experience and passion into one hallmark dining experience. The latest arrival makes five for the pair, who also own Chong Co Thai at Pacific Fair, Westfield Coomera and two locations in Toowoomba. The impressive new venue forms a key component of Paradise Centre’s brand-new beachfront dining precinct and has seriously upped the ante when it comes to its fit-out. Designed by DBI Design, Nahm Talay Thai maintains its mesmerising ocean view lines throughout the venue, which seamlessly transitions from inside to out. A modern beach aesthetic underpins the space with a mix of cosy couches, settings and booths for up to 120 diners.

Nahm Talay Thai is not just a pretty face. Beyond its dashing good looks, the innovative menu, curated by Nahm Talay Thai’s talented chefs Metira (May) Wongtom and Nitis (Kai) Shombunsode, will take you from 7:00 am right through to midnight with a modern interpretation of Thai classics. The breakfast offering adds an element of excitement that extends well beyond the stock-standard smashed avo we’ve come to expect. Here, you’ll find curious creations such as Soft-Shell Crab Egg Lava (croissant, salmon caviar, Tobiko sauce, vine-cherry tomato and parmesan), Enoki Benny (turmeric hummus, crispy enoki, smoked salmon, poached egg, house-made hollandaise, paprika and lemon) and Kingfish Larb (kingfish sashimi, red onion, spring onion, chilli powder, lemon, cherry tomato, dill and crisp lotus root). From midday, the menu expands to include a selection of Thai classics such as rich, flavoursome curries, homemade dumplings and wok-fried noodle dishes alongside some more adventurous morsels such as the Miang kam (prawn, betel leaf, Thai herbs, roasted coconut, ginger and lime caviar) and Nahm Talay’s take on tataki, known as Thaitaki (charred wagyu tataki, cucumber, chilli, red onion, lime, fish sauce, dill, mint finger lime, caviar). The BBQ section of the menu showcases some top-notch wagyu beef with a marble score of nine-plus alongside an entire rack of meaty pork ribs. Each dish that has made its way onto the menu has been reimagined to feature wildly interactive and theatrical elements such as liquid nitrogen and modern plating techniques. The theatrics don’t end with the fare, as the drinks are equally as impressive with bubble-topped martinis, fairy-floss adorned sips and margarita slushies among the sippable selection. If you’ve got an appetite for adventure, pull up a seat at this next-level newcomer.
