Satisfy your sweet tooth with a cookie from Mr Treat in Burleigh Heads
We have a confession – cookies are our kryptonite. We are powerless to resist as soon as we get a whiff of those freshly baked parcels of happiness. Chocolate-filled, caramel-topped, moreish macaroons – we don’t discriminate! If you too share our child-like enthusiasm for cookies, go ahead and get tempted by Mr Treat, which has recently opened in Burleigh Heads.
Mr Treat in Burleigh Heads should come with a trigger warning – may cause excessive drooling. The sweets slinger has recently moved into a space it shares with beachside dessert bar Oh My Waffle, making it a one-stop-shop to curb your cravings. Mr Treat is the collective brainchild of Oh My Waffle founders Jessica Hannagan and Courtney Havill, who originally opened the cookie-centric outpost in Fortitude Valley in Brisbane right around the same time that Covid wreaked havoc across the city. After a couple of extended lockdowns, the business owners made the tough decision to close. Thankfully, Mr Treat was never far from their minds and the duo ultimately decided to bring the tempting treats to the coast.
Okay, let’s get to the gooey, delicious details – there are eight different cookie creations to choose from, including the My Caramel Romance (vanilla cookie dough filled with chunks of white chocolate injected with salted-caramel ganache), Wake and Bake (chocolate cookie dough filled with Reece’s peanut butter chips and milk-chocolate chips stuffed with gooey peanut butter) and the unholy We Met On Crumble (vanilla cookie dough filled with salted-Caramilk ganache and white-chocolate chips topped with Caramilk crumb). The cookies are baked fresh onsite daily to ensure the centres are perfectly oozy and oh-so-delicious. The gals have plans to introduce loaded cookies where you will be able to choose your cookie base, warm it, top it with ice-cream and sprinkle with your choice of toppings. Prefer to eat at home in private? The cookies are available to takeaway in four- and six-packs.
