Tater-ly delicious – Mr Potato is slinging loaded spuds in Robina
Attention Robina! We have got some spudacular news for you – Mr Potato has expanded its operations and opened an outlet in Robina Town Centre. This potato-filled pitstop is doling out salivation-inducing spuds loaded with the likes of taco mince, creamy garlic mushrooms, and tofu and cauliflower. Here’s the low-down on these carby creations …
A few years and many potatoes after opening their Palm Beach location, Adelaide couple Tyson Hoffmann and Jess Davis have brought their fast-growing healthy loaded potato ‘fast-food’ franchise, Mr Potato, to Robina. The couple opened the doors to the flagship Mr Potato in December 2018 just after a few weeks after meeting, and it has since become a successful franchise with several locations across the coast. “I joked to Jess one night that I would open a baked potato fast-food chain if I could. A week later Jess sent me half a business plan and a logo, so we did it,” says Tyson. Mr Potato was inspired by their passion for healthy living, and the limited options when it came to healthy, affordable takeaway. The mission behind Mr Potato is to provide a quick, affordable and nutritious meal choice for those who are on the run. “It’s been so exciting to bring people a healthy alternative to regular fast food. It feels good to sell what we love and believe in,” says Jess.
Putting a modern twist on an old classic, Mr Potato is the perfect fast-food alternative – plus, the entire menu is gluten-free and has plenty of vegan and vegetarian options on offer. Like Meghan Trainor once mused ‘it’s all about that bas(e)’, and Mr Potato wholeheartedly agrees. You can choose between an IQ spud (which boasts more potassium than a banana and has 25-percent less carbs than a regular white potato) or a sweet potato (which is high in antioxidants and vitamins E and C). Next, you need to load it up. Choose from a selection of tried-and-tested favourites from the pre-loaded menu or get creative and build your own. The Lady Peeler makes mouth water with bacon, spinach, roast capsicum, quinoa tabouli, avocado and salsa, while the Mash Made In Heaven combines your choice of two proteins with kales, peas, corn, red onion, low-fat fetta and truffle mayo. Those looking to turn up the heat can dig in to the Drop It Like It’s Hot with chicken, bacon, red onion, roast capsicum, jalapenos, chilli flakes, sriracha and chipotle.
