New summer sipping spot Moxy’s Rooftop Bar opens in Coolangatta
Christmas has come early for Coolangatta locals – a new rooftop bar has opened its doors right in the thick of the action on Griffith Street. Dishing up cocktails, ice-cold tap beers and plenty of sunshine, this new open-air watering hole is set to become a key hydration point for sandy-footed sippers this summer.
Perched atop Mexican eatery The Aztec, the newly opened Moxy’s Rooftop Bar is the brainchild of local lads Kane Brigg and Brodie Edwards, who set out to elevate Coolangatta’s bar scene with a casual venue that captured both the precinct’s relaxed vibe and its seaside location. Operating under a ‘small bar’ licence, Moxy’s doesn’t have its own kitchen – though, the owners have teamed up with The Aztec right below to offer its patrons a menu of Mexican eats to snack on while they sip, with a selection of tacos, nachos and dips available to order.
Cocktails are the driver at Moxy’s, with a fun collection of concoctions ranging from the classics (margaritas, mojitos and more) to a 12-strong list of signature cocktails, which shines a light on house-infused spirits like cacao-spiked tequila, rhubarb and ginger-laced gin, and vodka infused with kaffir lime leaves. There’s also local and Australian beers on tap, as well as a crowd-pleasing wine list featuring all of the shades (along with a few organic drops).
