Minnie St revives its namesake with coffee, all-day eats and pizza by night
Those familiar with Southport thoroughfare Minnie Street would probably remember the, um, unique little corner store on the roundabout. Well, bow your heads for a moment, because the Minnie Street Mini Mart has gone – and it’s been replaced with an eclectic new venue called Minnie St, which will act as a cafe by day and a pizza and pasta joint by night.
As of this week, you’ll be able to get your hands on Social Espresso coffee, with the Minnie St kitchen due to launch into action by next weekend. The menu will kick off with morning delights like acai bowls, simple but hearty bacon and eggs, superfood bowls, fresh juices, smoothies. Come midday, the menu will expand with eats like yiros, salads, sandwiches and burgers. Owner Marie Malandris has kept the menu short and sweet, which will open the window for the chefs to get creative with the daily breakfast and lunch specials.
As the sun sets, the pizza and pasta menu will emerge, with traditional homestyle recipes accompanied by house-baked bread. Oh, and you’ll be able to BYO your favourite drop too, with a full liquor licence due to commence later in the year. The Day of the Dead-style mural, rustic furniture, and timber cable-reel tables set the scene for the quirky new space, which has transformed the less-than-appealing corner site into a tasty new player in the Southport cafe scene. High five #Sopo (Southport), we’re digging your vibe.
