Broadbeach favourite Metro Coffee opens a sibling spot in Burleigh Heads
When it comes to dining out on the Gold Coast, we’re spoilt for choice. A great problem to have, sure, but it doesn’t necessarily make the decision-making process any easier. Bringing together the trifecta of convenience, quality and accessibility, Broadbeach favourite Metro Coffee has opened a sibling spot in the beachside suburb of Burleigh Heads. Here’s everything you need to know …
To not only survive, but thrive over the past decade in hospitality is a clear indication you are doing something pretty right. Metro Coffee on Surf Parade in Broadbeach is one such venue. After nine and a half years plying Broady locals with perky brews and chews, the venue’s owner Andrew Naismith was on the lookout for a second Metro location. That opportunity presented itself in the form of the former Butler’s Tea Room + Noshery within the Home+Life centre. Andrew was attracted to the site for a number of reasons, including the diverse catchment of people from the nearby school, shopping centre and offices, as well as the ample parking that ultimately sealed the deal. After a quick signage swap, Metro Coffee Burleigh is open, delivering Metro’s signature service-based brand of hospitality. “Hospitality is an amazing industry to be in,” Andrew says. “Creating experiences for people who come in and dine with you, I think that’s the biggest thing. There’s lots of great food and coffee out there, but it’s about the experience.”
Metro Coffee Burleigh isn’t here to “reinvent the wheel,” in Andrew’s words. They’ve taken the winning formula from Broadbeach and applied it here, with the added benefit of a liquor license as well as options to delve into catering and functions. “The menu features a selection of staples people know and love with a Metro twist,” Andrew explains. The all-day breakfast offering ranges from crowd-pleasing zucchini and haloumi fritters to chilli-infused scrambled eggs and wagyu savoury mince as standouts. Wash it down with a smoothie, freshly squeezed juice or a cold brew that’s made in-house using a Colombian single-origin. As for the hot caffeinated beverages, Andrew has been working with Sydney’s Coffee Galleria to supply both Metro Coffee locations. Adding to the overall experience, Metro Coffee uses fresh ingredients, local suppliers, bakes all of its pastries in house and makes all of the sauces from scratch. “It’s the little things that make a big difference,” Andrew believes.
