Main Street Burger Bar expands from Byron Bay to the heart of Broadbeach

If you share our appreciation for good-quality burgers, then you’ll be happy to know that there is a juicy new kid on the block. Popular Byron Bay eatery Main Street Burger Bar has opened its doors in the heart of the new-look Broadbeach Mall, bringing with it a swag of delicious burger creations, boozy milkshakes and sodas, top-notch cocktails and ice-cold beer.

Pals and hospitality gurus William Ennis, Lawrence Rose, Chris Wright and Tahlia Ward are the brains behind Main Street Burger Bar, which first opened on Jonson Street in Byron Bay in February 2016. The group, which boasts quite the culinary pedigree (William and Lawrence also co-own The Italian in Byron Bay), decided to bring their renowned chef-made, hand-crafted burgers north to the Gold Coast – and us locals could not be happier. The impressive 140-seat burger joint neighbours the recently opened Harajuku Gyoza and the new-look Mario’s Italian, forming part of the newly transformed Oasis Shopping Centre precinct. The new Broadbeach venue very much mirrors what’s on offer in Byron Bay – the menu is the same, with a few new additions to the cocktail spread and bar-snack menu set to roll out soon, to suit the local Broadbeach trade.

For those not entirely familiar with the Main Street goodness – these burgers are handmade by chefs using organic grass-fed beef, free-range pork, the happiest of chickens, local eggs and local seafood. The burgers, which are served on soft organic buns, start from the Classic 10 Buck Hamburger with oak lettuce and special sauce (it’s a secret), to the popular Main Street Beef, which comes with double smoked bacon, caramelised onion, cheese, housemade barbecue sauce, garlic mayo, plus some added freshness from oak lettuce and tomato. There’s a harissa-roasted lamb shoulder burger with mint and kale slaw, and the big cheese is the Ol’ Joe’s Got The Blues burger – this one towers high with double organic beef, smoked farmgate bacon, truffle aioli, raw beetroot, lettuce and tomato.

Even the meat-free crew are well looked after with a vegan pulled-jackfruit burger and a haloumi-topped veggie burg – plus, you can totally go bun-free with Main Street’s vibrant series of salads. The Main Street team have the drinkables down-pat, with boutique-style sodas and real milkshakes – both with the option to add a nip of booze … we’ve got our eye on the vegan Bounty milkshake with coconut rum, and the dark chocolate milkshake with Cointreau. If boozy shakes aren’t your jam (they should be), then you can choose from an extensive list of wines, cocktail and tap beers.
