Lord of the Fries fakes bacon and eggs with a new all-vegan breakfast menu

Bacon and egg muffins paired with a couple of deep-fried hash browns – this hangover-curing combination is the breakfast of champions, right? Those who agree with that sentiment will be chuffed to hear that popular ethical fast-food joint Lord of the Fries, which opened its flagship Queensland store in Surfers Paradise late last year, has launched its first-ever breakfast menu featuring everybody’s hunger-busting morning favourites, from BLTs to chicken and waffles. Here’s the catch – it’s all vegan.

That’s right, the meat-free chain Lord of the Fries are faking bacon, eggs and fried chicken to bring us a delicious all-day breakfast spread without an animal product in sight – and it’s designed to fool even the most carnivorous among us. The new breakfast spread joins Lord of the Fries’ moreish menu of cheeseburgers, fries, hot dogs and more, using a range of ingredients from soy protein to mushrooms to effectively replicate the taste of meat patties, bacon, eggs, sausages, chicken and fish.

The Lord of the Fries ‘bacon and egg’ muffin comes sandwiched with vegan cheese, mayonnaise and mustard, or you can go for the Hash and Patty muffin with a meat-free patty, cheese, onion, mustard, barbecue sauce and a crispy golden hash brown. Spice up your life with the chilli-egg muffin with jalapenos, cheese, spicy salsa and mayo, or if you’re really living on the edge, go for the Chik’n Waffle – a waffle sandwich with fried vegan chicken, a schmear of butter, drizzle of maple syrup and lashings of animal-free bacon. Wash it all down with a vegan cookies-and-cream milkshake and you can consider your ethical, animal-loving self well and truly satisfied.
