Rainforest meets the sea – Labart teams up with Brookie’s for a gin-spiked seafood lunch

If you love seafood and are an avid sipper of gin, then not only do we like you (a lot), we also need to tell you about the coast’s next unmissable dining event – the Labart x Brookie’s Gin and Seafood Lunch on Sunday June 30. Tickets are on sale now – here’s what you need to know.

Restaurant Labart’s owners, chef Alex Munoz Labart and his wife Karla, are joining forces with Cape Byron Distillery (the makers of Brookie’s Gin) for the exclusive one-off lunch designed to meld the rainforest with the sea. The Labart x Brookie’s Sunday Lunch follows hot on the heels of the restaurant’s much-anticipated Gin Pig dinner with Four Pillars back in May – that one sold out within days, so consider this a friendly nudge to book your seat for the June 30 event right now.

The five-course feast will kick off at 12:00 pm, with each dish shining the light on the native botanicals used to create the award-winning Brookie’s Gin. The region’s own gin guru, Brenden Yeo from Cape Byron Distillery, who also co-owns Burleigh’s Lockwood bar, will host the night and step diners through the Brookie’s ethos, while crafting gin cocktails with each of the five courses. The menu looks like this – school prawns with salt-and-pepper leaf, gin-cured kingfish with finger lime and juniper, barbecued Moreton Bay bug and lemon-aspen jam, and steamed blue-eye trevalla with pickled rye berries. To finish? Brookie’s Mac liqueur with pop-corn ice-cream, chocolate and coffee. Just, wow.

Tickets are $155 per person, which includes the five-course seafood lunch with five paired gin cocktails. Secure your spot now via the Labart website.
