La Spiga artisan bakery opens at Capri On Via Roma

La Spiga, meaning ‘the wheat’ in Italian, has added to Capri On Via Roma’s European offering with its magnificent array of freshly baked artisan bread, paninis and sweet treats.

Up until now, La Spiga has been a secret shared among the Gold Coast’s major hotels, entertainment venues and theme parks but now the cat is out of the bag following the opening of La Spiga’s first retail store on Isle of Capri. Long before the first glimpses of sun peek over the horizon, La Spiga’s artisan bakers are toiling away at the factory in Burleigh Heads creating an incredible array of baked goods for your eating pleasure. The vast range includes crispy-on-the-outside-fluffy-on-the-inside traditional white loaves, multigrain, wholemeal, rye and sourdough to name a few. The bread is made using traditional Italian and French recipes and slow-rise techniques that pay homage to its motherland.

In addition to artisan loaves, La Spiga’s bakery at Capri On Via Roma also whips up deli-style sandwiches, pizza slabs and sweet treats including beautifully light brioches and flaky, buttery pastries. Follow the sweet scent of freshly baked bread or see our Stumble Guide for opening times.

The Stumble Guide is our comprehensive Gold Coast dining guide with more than 870 places to eat, drink, shop and play.
