Kylie’s Cupcakery expands to a new home and opens a dedicated gluten-free cafe

If you have a soft spot for sweets and big love for burgers, we have some exciting news. Having outgrown its original space on Lavelle Street in Nerang, the much-loved Kylie’s Cupcakery has moved to a brand-new pastel-hued home, a stone’s throw from its original location. The mouth-watering new cupcakery is nestled on Nerang Street, and is dishing up an expanded menu of eats alongside next-level sweet treats. Read on for all of the mouth-watering details …

Opening a cupcakery mid-pandemic wasn’t exactly part of owner (aka the cupcake queen) Kylie Hides‘ grand plan. A qualified chef, Kylie was working in events at the nearby RSL and baked a batch of cupcakes for a fundraiser. After fielding repeated requests for more, Kylie looked into the process of securing a permit to bake a couple of batches from home. When the orders continued to roll in, Kylie and her husband decided to throw caution to the wind and Kylie’s Cupcakery opened its doors on Lavelle Street in mid-2020. Less than a year later the thriving business began pushing its outer perimeter and they were once again on the lookout for a new home. As luck would have it, an opportunity presented itself within walking distance of the original premises, neighbouring Bischof Pioneer Park.

The new family-friendly space boasts a similar brightly-hued aesthetic with a colourful display cabinet taking pride of place. Every morning, the cabinet is filled to the brim with freshly baked cupcakes in a kaleidoscope of colours ranging from Biscoff and caramel popcorn through to the wildly popular lolly-topped Candy Lane, to name a few. In addition to sweet treats, the new eatery offers an expanded breakfast and lunch menu that includes burgers, its signature ‘nacho dog’, wings and popcorn prawns to nibble. There’s also a dedicated kid’s menu that features food kids actually want to eat – think nuggets and two-minute noodles, and on Wednesday, kids eat free! For the parents, there’s Merlo Coffee flowing through the machines.

Rather than say goodbye to the original cupcakery entirely, Kylie has opened a dedicated gluten-free cafe at 6 Nerang Street. The 100-percent gluten-free space ensures there’s no accidental cross-contamination from the kitchen. In addition to being gluten-free, there’s also a selection of vegan and dairy-free treats so that little people with allergies and intolerances don’t have to miss out – that’s something Kylie is pretty passionate about.
